TitleChinese pangolin
-
DescriptionPangolins are the most trafficked mammal in the world – their scales are used in traditional medicine, skins used for leather products and their meat is consumed as a delicacy. This has brought several species to the brink of extinction. In 2019 more than 195,000 were trafficked for their scales alone. As the Asian pangolin is in decline, traffickers have turned to African pangolins with similar devastating effect on their population.
