DescriptionTin-glazed blue and white Delftware puzzle jug or flagon, marked on base 'W.G. 1714'. The jug has an ovoid body with a short pedestal foot, a hollow, narrow neck, with a row of piercings. There are three prominent tubular shaped spouts around the top of the neck. The loop handle is decorated with a trailing floral design and has a trilobed foot. The central hand-painted panel has a Chinese garden scene of a woman seated by a building with a curtain and the garden has a fence and two trees. The two other panels have a floral design with butterflies and a bird. The circular stand has three shaped feet and depicts a woman sitting within a building with a fence behind. Both the jug and the stand have decorative scroll-effect borders.
