DescriptionPhotographic postcard depicting Donald George Cant in First World War Uniform. Donald George Cant was born in Witnesham, Suffolk on 18 March 1895. His mother was Catherine Cant and lived at 2 America Hill, Witnesham. Donald moved from Suffolk to Hilbury, Ontario and worked as a miner. He joined the Canadian over-seas expeditionary force in 1916, aged 21 and arrived in England 11th November 1916 and journeyed from there to France. He was a member of the 4th Regiment Canadian Mounted Rifles of the Canadian Infantry. Donald died of wounds on 31 August 1918, aged 23. This date corresponds with the second battle of Arras. Found and accessioned as part of collections backlog work, Sept 2017 - Apr 2018. Attempted to contact donor but no response was received.
