DescriptionDrum made of carved wood with an integral handle. Open at the base and covered with a reptile skin membrane at the top. A large crack runs vertically along the whole length. Donated by Miss D. E. M. Mathew, collected by Captain G. F. Mathew R.N. (Paymaster in Chief) F.Z.S. F.R.G.S. Stuck-on handwritten label: '1950.210.14 Mathew' and number maked on in white ink. According to the register these objects were collected from New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands and Fiji between 1881 and 1883.
