DescriptionTjurunga (also spelled Churinga) made of wood, flat on one side and convex on the other. Designs of concentric circles at three intervals on the flat side and one on the middle on the other. These are surrounded by grooved lines. The whole is covered in red ochre. A hole has been drilled for suspension and a European cord is threaded through. Registration number marked on the object in black ink: '1978.89.3'. From Mrs Julian Holden, St Mary's Convent, Freeland, Oxford. Purchased by the donor in 1968 from a representative from the Warlpiri (Wailbri) or Arrente (Arunta) tribes.
