DescriptionPlayed with by an Ipswich girl in the 1890s, this tea set tells the story of Cinderella. Cinderella escapes her lowly life by being beautiful enough for a prince to marry. European fairy tales show women as damsels needing to be rescued by a handsome hero. Child's tea service consisting of teapot, 6 teacups, 6 saucers, 6 small plates, 2 cake plates, 2 bowls, 1 milk/cream jug. Decorated with pink transfer-printed design based on story of Cinderella., teapot has scene with 'Cinderella on her way to the ball', jug 'The Prince asks Cinderella to Dance', teacups 'The Fairy appears to Cinderella', saucers 'The Clock Strikes Twelve', small plates 'The Prince Exclaimed It Must be my Princess', cake plates 'Everybody was pleased when the Prince Married Cinderella', large bowls 'Cinderella on her way the Ball'.
