-
DescriptionThis portrait was discovered by James Grieg in 1909. Unfortunately little is known about the sitter, excepting that her maiden name was Blake and her brother, Captain Robert Blake (1720-1802), fought at Prestonpans against the Jacobites. The daughter is supposed to have run away with a footman and broken her mother's heart. Acquired with assistance by the Art Fund; the Arts Council England/V&A Purchase Grant Fund and Felix Cobbold Bequest.
