DescriptionCeramic ashtray that was made to commemorate the centenary of Ransomes and Rapier Ltd of Ipswich. Sloped sides that are coloured yellow. Gilt edging around rim. Black transfer print depicting the factory site of Ransomes and Rapier Ltd on the river Orwell, which has inscription below; 'Ransomes and Rapier Ltd, Ipswich 1875'., on base printed marks, one advertising the products made by Rapier. The other is maker's, probably decoratrors mark, for W.A. Gray that has sailing ship on the sea in yellow, green and black. There is another maker's mark underneath for Lancaster and Sandland, with shaking hands motif (possibly actual ceramic maker)
