Catherine Killigrew (1579-1640)

Hairstyle of c. 1595-1600 The sitter was the daughter of William Killigrew, Acting Treasurer of the Privy Chamber 1595-6. This portrait shows Catherine before her marriage to Sir Thomas Jermyn (1572-1644) of Rushbrooke Hall near Bury St. Edmunds. Her curled and padded hair is adorned with a head-dress made of silver wire and pearls. Purchased from Rushbrooke Sale
