الوصفThe end of a fossil bone (humerus) from the front leg of a mammoth or straight-tusked elephant. This fossil is included in the Mythical Creatures exhibition as in 300-200 BC, people digging trenches in North Africa found large skeletons which were believed to be the remains of giant people. This area has proved to be rich in mastodon and mammoth fossils. It is now thought that these huge fossil bones may have inspired myths of Giants.
