DescripciónThis is the skull of a male European Fallow deer. Fallow deer were first brought to Britain from the western Mediterranean during the Roman period. Naturalised fallow deer living in Britain today are descended from those reintroduced in the medieval period from the eastern Mediterranean. Kept in deer parks as a source of venison, their popularity declined in the 1400s with escapees starting the population living wild in Britain today.
