Reclining Female Nude

In February 1800 John Constable entered the Royal Academy Schools where he attended anatomy lessons and learnt to draw nude models. This pencil drawing is dated Friday 25th August 1820 when Constable went to the Life Schools at Somerset House to draw from the model. The pose was set by Henry Howard, R.A.
