ОписаниеA silver shilling siege piece from the Second English Civil War, in 1648. These were originally produced as currency for Royalist forces during the English Civil War, particularly during sieges. It was identified by former curators as a Colchester siege token, perhaps as it was found in the town. However this token was produced during the siege of Pontefract Castle, which occurred in the same year. This is evidenced by the initials PC on the obverse. Former curator's have suggested siege tokens were "almost certainly an Eighteenth century souvenir", which is also possible once the coins came out of circulation.
