Mess uniform of a Major General of the Third Dragoon Guards comprising of jacket and waistcoat. 1853 pattern. Major General's Mess dress of the Third Dragoon Guards - the gold lace and braid is indicative. Small pointed buttons are of wire dipped in glass, and are called beads.
