Georgian gentleman's cream ribbed silk waistcoat with cream, pale blue, pink and green embroidery. Dated around 1775. Part of a suit. Cream ribbed silk with cream, pale blue and pink roses and green leaves of floss silk embroidered heavily along edges and pocket flaps. A minute embroidered pattern of thistles in a cone or shell cover the ribbed silk. cf. 10 small embroidered buttons and corresponding holes fastening. Flap pockets, waistcoat pointed at fronts. Lining mainly coarse white linen, but silk surrounds. Back-plain linen, vents at lower back with 2 pairs of adjusting tapes. Bottom levels of waistcoat are uneven - perhaps altered.
