ОписаниеSquare of white linen. Two edges are the selvedge edges and two edges have been hemmed by machine. Printed with a satirical frieze of men and women in a variety of role-reversed occupations, in black ink. Centre transcript - 'Womans Rights "1981" And What Came Of It.' One side shows men in traditional women's domestic roles, including cleaning, laundry, child care, serving tea, tatting and being a housemaid. The four corners show a parrot and men having 'Nothing to Do' (asleep under a tree) , 'Frozen Out M.D.'s' (huddling together), 'Perfect Bliss' (smoking under a tree) and 'Hard Work' (drinking). The other three sides show women in a wide variety of traditional male occupations - including the police, railway workers, 'science', footmen, mechanics, the Navy, the Army, the Law, and Politics. The women are all wearing trousers.. Circa 1881.
