Pair of white cotton knickers with closed gusset and elasticated waist & heavily altered at the waist - two darts on either side of centre back seam and one dart either side of the cntre front seam have been taken out, a triangular piece of a different cotton fabric has been added at centre front, and waistband has been added & leg openings trimmed with broderie anglais with a scalloped edge, hand sewn on. Heavily altered. 1895-1910 worn by Mrs Emeny, proprietor of Thatchers Arms.
