underskirt, underskirt

horsehair / linen underskirt with linen & bustle constructed from seven layers of ruffles & steel support band at top of ruffs & bottom hem edged with black silk/cotton velvet & inside back panel, under ruffles, reinforced with linen with fastening of metal eyelets drawn in by lacing & front left side placket with two buttons, one missing, and adjusting tape at back of waistband. 1872-1875 circa.
