hat, straw hat

Navy straw hat with red and white velvet artificial flowers and blue net on crown. Navy blue straw hat constructed of length of straw plait sewn together overlapping. Plait starts at centre of crown and then is sewn in a spiral into an oval shape at the top. Brim is 60mm wide. Crown is decorated with a coarse navy blue net (appears that it would have been more extensive) at the side, navy blue Petersham ribbon in a flattened bow at back and red and white artificial flowers on the left side. Black satin rayon head band inside the crown with a gathered rosette of cream lace and remnants of navy net. Black narrow elastic to go under the hair. Circa 1955.
