Red cotton bathing costume with white rick-rack braid decoration and attached belt. Homemade. 1875-1900. Twill weave cotton one piece. Wide deep neckline, yoked. Buttoned shoulders. Small frill sleeve caps. Full body gathered onto yoke. Loose knicker-like legs - no gusset. White rick-rack braid decoration on all edges. Red belt with button fastening. Possibly homemade (braiding is added using two different techniques and the buttons are unmatched). Buttons on shoulders have been moved because of tearing.
