A Roman Terra Nigra plate or platter. The object has been extensively repaired, though small fragments are still missing. Terra Nigra pottery comes from northern Gaul (France) and was imported into Britain, especially in the late Iron Age and early Roman periods. This object comes from the so called Stanway 'Warrior Burial'.
