A mount of a cat, possibly a Scottish wildcat. Once found across Britain, the population of this critically endangered cat declined drastically from the 1900s due to habitat loss and persecution. The main threat now to this species is hybridization with domestic cats.This specimen was selected for the Wicked Spirits exhibition as the animal familiars of suspected witches were often believed to take the form of a cat.
