Shield of made of very heavy wood, curved at both ends, with a central raised boss. Front painted with a background of reddish-brown with black wavy lines. A handle cut from the solid on the reverse. Pencil mark on reverse: 'L.37 Mrs Scrivener Loan' and a handwritten label: 'L.1932.37 From Mrs Scrivener of St Matthews St IPS'.
