brooch, square headed brooch

gilded Anglo-Saxon square headed brooch with faceted bows and with delicate chip-carved ornament below the bow showing pairs animal heads with long snouts set within long spiralling lines. One of the side lobes is missing. On the reverse part of the pin attachment remains.
