brooch, square headed brooch

bronze gilded Anglo-Saxon square headed brooch with end lobe missing. Faceted bows and delicate chip-carved ornament below the bow showing pairs of animal heads with long snouts set within fine spiralling lines. Part of pin and pin mount survives on reverse.
