2 ju-ju figures. One is a large carved wooden statuette of bush spirit. Baule tribe, collected before 1911. West Africa. Wood stained dark and incised with markings on belly. Neck ring ornamentation and incised with hair and facial markings. Beaded necklace and ?clay? Waistband. Incised decoration on base.Other is a very large carved wooden figure. Elongated neck with incised designs. Multi-strand beaded rope ornamentation around waist and over one hand. Carved hairstyle and facial features. Hands clenched in gripping style at side. Curved lines on torso, possibly showing ribcage and carved teeth in mouth. Bracelet on right wrist.
