mug, tankard

Sunderland ware pink lustre mug or tankard with black transfer-printed design on front of a scene of a sailor saying goodbye to his family with ship in distance, with inscription below 'Sailors' Farewell' and four line verse below. On other side another verse entitled 'The Sailor's Tear' with floral garland surround and sailing ship above. Pink lustre bands around rim, foot and on handle. Handle has moulded foliate terminals.
