Stanway Mill/ Copford, Essex

The mounted but unsigned drawing has written in pencil on the bottom left 'Stanway Mill 26 July 1816' and depicts the top of a windmill with trees and foliage in the foreground. Written on reverse 'by John Constable House at East Bergholt'. Agnews label on the back 6672. This drawing is on a page from the smaller sketch book used in 1816. Ian Fleming-Williams in 1990 confirmed that Constable had mistakenly inscribed this drawing as Stanway and it was in fact the nearby parish of Copford.
