Weymouth Bay, Osmington, October 1816

This drawing is on a page from a larger sketchbook that Constable used in 1816. Constable had married Maria Bicknell on 2nd October 1816 and they were on their honeymoon. On 11th October they journeyed west to the vicarage at Osmington to visit their good friends Rev. John Fisher and his wife, Mary (nee Cookson), who had also married that year. IPSMG: R.1940-26.7 drawing is on the reverse. And inscribed on the reverse JF married 2 July 1816.
