Common Prayer

Common Prayer book with calendar of annual prayers, illustrations, psalms and prayers for occasions including baptisms, marriages and burials. Inside front cover, in pencil, inscribed 'Abram Constable, East Bergholt, 1846 / Date of this Book 1711'. Several delicate illustrations (woodcuts ?) of Bible scenes including the Angel appearing to Joseph, 'Christ betrayed,' 'Christ scourged,' 'Christ crucified' and 'Christ ascending into heaven.' Also illustrations of the 'wicked' 1605 Gunpowder Plot and 'martyr' King Charles I who was executed in 1649.
