Hampstead Heath [Bathers]

The last state. Lucas evidently intended (presumably after discussion with the artist's friend C.R.Leslie) to include the print with those published in 1848. The composition is however, close to A Heath in the original series and was dropped. First published by Bohn, 1855. Original: in a private collection, but a replica oil painting is in the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond, U.S.A. Given by Edwin Rose, 1950
