hat, women's hat

Woman's hat which is cap-shaped with knob on top and organdie bow at back. Covered entirely with violets in two shades. Dating from 1960s. Label of Mitzi Lorenz of London. Bought from Messrs. Frank Mason of Ipswich and stored in original hexagonal box with Mason label. After a period of austerity and clothes rationing, the 1950s saw the return of colourful hats in synthetic fibres. Hats like this one were suitable for attending weddings and other formal occasions.
